30/9/2023 Creedence Clearwater Review Review by Kev White

Creedance Clearwater Review are the closest sounding to the real Creedance Clearwater Revival (Country/Rock) you are ever likely to witness shy of the original band themselves. The band wore authentic clothes and played replica instruments The show spans the careers of CCR and band leader John Fogerty which added to the whole experience.

CCR were only together a few years but the amount of material they wrote and released was prolific. Many of the songs have become bona fide classics either in their original form or as covered by other artists, 'Proud Mary' being a classic example when Ike and Tina Turner covered it.

The band are led by Dale Taylor (Fogerty) who took us on a two hour journey telling stories about the band's career in between songs. The whole gig really brought that era of music history to life. Fogerty is one of those songwriters who as written so many classic songs, some of which some present may not have realised that he actually wrote.

The two hour show was split into two parts with a short break.

As well as the aforementioned 'Proud Mary', so many great songs were played this evening including 'Born On The Bayou', 'Suzie Q', 'Up Around The Bend', 'Sweet Hitch-Hiker', 'Rockin' All Over The World', 'Run Through The Jungle', 'Bad Moon Rising', 'Green River', which brought the second set to a close. The band returned to the stage for encore saving the best until last 'Fortunate Son' quite possibly the greatest Protest song ever written and 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain'.

If you have never seen this band before, then you are in for a treat.

What a great night!
