25/11/2023 Dizzy Lizzy Review by Kev White

It is well documented that Thin Lizzy had a chequered career with many setbacks, more than their fair share in fact. Had things turned out differently, they could have been huge.

Dizzy Lizzy are an authentic sounding Thin Lizzy tribute band certainly looked the part with their stage gear, in particular front-man 'Phil Lynott' was looking very flamboyant. The set played was essentially a best of with all of the crowd pleasing classics.

Early on in the evening 'Phil Lynott' got off to a uncertain start when addressing the crowd, his voice, a little shaky and didn't seem to be too sure of himself, most probably, nerves. However, as the night progressed, he grew in confidence and more into his character. The band were tight and well-rehearsed, with both guitarists locking in together and emulating the classic twin guitar sound that Lizzy were well known for.

Two songs in particular really stood out 'Dancing In The Moonlight', this writer is very familiar with the Toploader cover version and has never heard the Thin Lizzy original and a stunning take on the classic 'Parisienne Walkways', quite possibly occasional Lizzy guitarist, Gary Moore's finest moment.

Highlights included 'Jailbreak', 'Chinatown', 'Rosalie', 'Johnny The Fox', 'Parisienne Walkways', 'Whiskey In The Jar' and 'The Boys Are Back In Town'

A very enjoyable, energetic and lively performance which went down well with the audience.
